Wishing for spring, thank goodness it is almost around the corner, when I looked out the window this morning
the first thing I saw was SNOW, which directed me to my album of SPRING THINGS. I painted these sweet

My buddy and I sell all kinds of antiques, collectibles, junque, etc, we use his yard or mine, this Yard sale was at his yard. I have to show pics of the yard before the yard sale and after, he is a neat-nik and would be upset to think people saw his yard only in a mess.

We were off to a great start early Sat morning, THEN...the rain came, very early, so we postponed until the next day Sunday AM. the best day for any yard sale is Sat. but around our neck of the woods, the weather is the boss. As with any yard sale it takes lots and lots of work to just get it started and outside, let alone pricing and tagging all. I wish all of you could have stopped by. We did well considering it was only a 1 day sale. Maybe we'll do another one soon, if only I could depend on the weather men, they seem to be guessing as I am. Check out the pictures.

I really love the look of beautiful vintage bone china, unfortunately so many older pieces have chips and cracks, alas, a wonderful way to enjoy them is to use them for mosaicking. I started out with the chipped ones, then to the faded, eventually I was buying sets just to break up because I needed more than I had. It is surly a habit forming craft, the more you break the more you buy to break and it goes on and on. The outcome is a piece of art that is vintage, and will become an heirloom. Here are a few of my mosaic pieces.

This is the most romantic bedroom I have seen, it is just what I love. Maybe someday!!! Talk about a canapy, what a beautiful swag effect and so high. It reminds me of a loft in an old brownstone in Boston or New York City.

Today I got a .com, I have been thinking of this for years, and finally I decided to go ahead and get it, ... it was so easy, I really didn't believe that I got it.
Now that I am a real person/business with a .com, I have to decide what to do with it, that'll take months of reading and studying, investigating etc, etc. to find out how, when why to go ahead and become a business/person with a .com/
Yes I believe I shoud tell everyone what my .com is... It is oceanfrontporch.com wow, that looks so professional. but if you go to it, it may not even show anything, or it may, but there will be nothing there except the oceanfrontporch.com Oh this is so great, I need about 3 days to figure it all out...

I think my favorite type of painting is the seascape, i just love the beach, ocean, boats, and sand dunes. It brings back fond memories of wonderful summers spent at the beach in Ocean Bluff, MA. Here are a couple of recent paintings (sorry they are sold).

Well, I guess I will try one more time to conquer this blog thingy. I completely deleted half of the last post i added and was so bull that i just left it and said maybe later that was about 3 weeks ago. now its "later".
I sell my paintings and mosaics on Ebay and Etsy, I have met many many wonderful people, as well as meeting so many challengers learning to use the computer, understanding Ebay with all their changes, if it ain't broken don't fix it, that is not their motto. Now my latest challenge, the blog, I never knew what a blog was never mind have my own. All this aside I am anxious to get started and meet many other bloggers.

Reverse glass painting

This form of painting is called reverse glass painting, and as its name, is painted on the reverse side of the glass, all the things in the foreground are painted first, let dry, then the next layer of painting, and finally the last layer, which would be in a landscape painting the background, grass, sea, clouds, sky. Unlike the tinsel painting, the reverse glass painting is done in opaque oil paints, where the tinsel in painted with transparent oils. This type of painting was used on clocks, mirrors, cabinets, and to add a painting to nice old picture frames. The last 3 pictures I have added, and the steeple clock have been done in reverse glass.

Tinsel paintings

This is another wonderful old type of painting on glass. You paint with transparant oils on the reverse side of the glass. When the painting is completely dry, (in the old days they would take the tinsel that came from decorating the Christmas tree) and lay it on the reverse of the glass on top of the painting,(today you can just crinkle some aluminum foil). Flip it over and frame it. I have a couple different pictures I will add to show how pretty this is.
One if a painting of an antique doll, the other is a transom window from an old house, I painted different flowers in each of 4 panes.

I am new at blogging, I think I like it, although I can't seem to get beyond the first page. Blogs are usually interesting and informative, my goal will be to make mine the same.

Let me tell you a little about myself, I started painting over 30 something years ago. I have tried all mediums and love each and every one of them. My first was a very old lost art called "Wingcraft" it was done on toleware (old tinware) trays, apple trays, candlesconces, clocks, and even some very fine furniture. Wingcraft is a 4 step process that entails many hours of painting and waiting (drying times between layers). The first step was to paint a very small part of the design with copal painting medium mixed with lining powders, these powders came in differend shades of gold, copper, chrome, white gold etc. while this was tacky you dab on a coarse powder and let dry, hours later it is time to shade your design with transparent oil paints, the colors were usually done in earth tones of ocher, umber,sienna etc. again hours sometimes days later it was time for the final step of a fine shellac, then a pumice rub. When completed these were beautiful. I have added a pic of an apple dish.
